SUSTAINABILITY

The quality or state of being able to cause to continue, nourish and endure a balance of available resources and the use of those resources. When this definition is focused on biological resources that humans and other species depend upon, we understand sustainability to mean: The quality or state of being able to provide for the support or maintenance of a recurrent increment of a resource such that the portion removed by one harvest is replaced by growth or reproduction before and after harvest occurs. In other words, don't use up a resource without allowing for the future availability of that resource to be used by the individual and the community.

Manage resources for the long term, don't exploit them for short term profits.
